“If we can share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can’t survive.”

-Brené Brown

I am…

Catherine, Clinical Mental Health Counselor

I have a background in all things mental health—whether it’s facilitating workshops on trauma in college, working as an in-home caregiver for elders in need of assistance, working with children and adults with disabilities for several years, starting an empowerment coaching business, assisting in classrooms for kids 3-12, or nannying.

My passion for healing and growing greater than myself began in high school when I moved across the country with the intention to “become happy.” That journey was long and wide and took many more years than I had expected. From backpacking through Southeast Asia, visiting monasteries, taking yoga teacher training—to healing familial relationships—to learning to develop a silent sit meditation practice. It was often very difficult—but, even though at the time I often didn’t think so, it was awesome and life-changing.

Today I work as a therapist and life coach. My therapeutic experience is mostly with these challenges: relationships, anxiety, depression, suicidality, addiction, eating disorders, and incarcerated populations. Today my clients bring me challenges of relationships and sex—that is my current focus, passion, and love.

I run process groups for those struggling in relationship as well as a garden group and movement group for increased self-awareness, courage, and intimacy with self and others.

In coaching, I focus on business. Working with leadership in organizations, I help companies become driven by purpose, values, and integrity. It is another passion of mine after working in too many organizations in which trainings were on email etiquette rather than transparency, vulnerability, grit, and worthiness in the workplace.
